These records comprise the loose files of the late Pauline Young, one of South Carolina's most widely known genealogists on upper South Carolina. Each family record is filed with names of persons mentioned. These records consist of estate settlements, bastardy bonds, deeds, wills, coroner's inquests, abstracts of letters pertaining to estates, guardianship, tavern licenses, etc. It is estimated that each book contains more that 40,000 names of early settlers in Upper South Carolina from the mid 1700s to the 1850s. These records are primarily from upper South Carolina counties such as Pendleton District, Abbeville, Edgefield, Greenville, and Pickens.
