Description

Rev. John Smith came to New England in the ship White Angel in 1630 and settled in Barnstable. He married Susannah Hinckley and had 13 children, 9 of whom were sons. The youngest son, Joseph, married Ann Fuller, and they also had 13 children, 10 of whom were sons. The ninth of these was the Rev. Thomas Smith.

The family history is told in a pleasant narrative, incorporating many family letters, anecdotes and pictures. This family of Smiths had a love of the sea and several were noted seafaring men. They served with honor in the War of 1812 and the Civil War.
