Every effort was made to insure the accuracy of this book by comparing the microfilm pages against the original census. The hurried writing of the census-taker and the ditto marks used by the surnames can cause confusion in interpreting the census data. Evidently the census-taker used those marks and then filled in the first names at another time--creating even more confusion when he had less names and more ditto marks. McIntosh and Jourdan make this a much more user-friendly version of the census.
