Description

These are the reconciliations of the payments against the estate. Includes name of decedent, references, amounts, sureties, persons to whom estate was distributed, executors/administors, creditors, and legatees. The probate records of the Prerogative Court of Maryland contain several types of records: testamentary, wills, administration accounts, inventories, inventories and accounts, and distributions. Each kind of record has value for the genealogist. Prior to 1777, all probate records were required to be filed with the Prerogative Court of Maryland. The Inventories and Accounts was a separate series of probate records established in 1674 and continued until 1718. At that time, the series was split into two: Inventories and Accounts. Both series continued until 1777, when the Prerogative Court was abolished.
