Description

Adair County, located in the northeastern portion of Missouri was created 29 January 1841 and named for John Adair, a Governor of Kentucky. The earliest settlement was called " Cabins of White Folks" or simply "The Cabins". After struggles with the Native Americans in the area, the county settled down to their existence.

In this collection of some county records, you will find a brief history of the county, Abstracts of Wills and Administration Book B 1857-1865, Civil War discharge papers for men from the county and the Patrons of the Atlas of 1876 which lists most of the residents at the time and where they originated. The full name index helps in identifying each person listed in the records.
