Description
Born in 1758, the Chevalier was the son of the Lord of Pontgibaud. He spent some time in prison before escaping to America to help fight in the Revolution. Upon arriving at Valley Forge, the Marquis de la Fayette made the Chevalier an aide-de-camp with the rank of major. During the Revolution, he participated in several engagements, including the Battle of Monmouth.
